"In relation to oneself, non-existence."



The whole point of dharma, as the Buddha said, is to realize that the self is non-existent. In our practice, and especially in retreat, we arrive at a place where we see we are nothing. We bind ourselves completely empty-handed, reduced to zero, with nothing at all to say for ourselves. We need to see this not as a bad thing at all, but quite exactly the opposite: the moment of our freedom, let us step into it fully.
